As the demand for high-quality, reusable public data grows, understanding the structure and meaning behind datasets is more important than ever. Norway is tackling this challenge head-on with its national data portal, Data.norge.no – a public sector-led platform designed to boost data reusability across institutions and borders.

In this iTalk, Kjersti Steien, Senior Advisor and Product owner at the Norwegian Digitalisation Agency, will share how the portal links metadata about datasets, APIs, concepts, information models, and public services using semantic web technologies and linked data principles. Built on DCAT-AP and other EU and W3C standards, the platform enables automatic metadata harvesting from public bodies and publishes open data to the European Data Portal.

Developed under an open-source license, Data.norge.no is already generating interest in countries like Estonia and Czechia, thanks to its interoperable, standards-based, and scalable approach. It offers a compelling model for improving data reuse across the EU public sector ecosystem.

Join us on 3 December 2025, 12:30–13:30 CET to discover how Norway is helping make open data truly reusable — and what other countries and institutions can learn from its approach.

This session is part of the iTalks on Government Innovation series, hosted by the European Commission’s Digital Innovation Lab, showcasing practical examples of public sector innovation and digital transformation across the globe.
