Webinar 'Smart cities and digital twin technology: the case of Bologna'

    23 January 2026
    Online

Do you want to understand how cities can use data, models, and AI to make better decisions for their communities? Make sure you do not miss our upcoming data.europa academy webinar! Join us for our session, “Smart cities and digital twin technology: the case of Bologna”, taking place on Friday, 23 January 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 CET.

As part of our smart cities webinar series, we are delighted to present the third edition, spotlighting the Digital Twin of Bologna. This session will explore how Bologna is developing a next‑generation civic infrastructure to support more efficient, transparent, and collaborative public decision‑making. The Digital Twin offers a cutting‑edge approach to understanding complex urban systems and contributes to the city’s wider ambitions, including climate neutrality and improved public services.

We will be joined by Stefania Paolazzi from the Comune di Bologna and Marco Pistore from Fondazione Bruno Kessler, the project’s technical coordinator and manager. Together, they will guide participants through the conception and development of Bologna’s Digital Twin, illustrating how data, models, and AI systems are designed, governed, and made accessible to both public authorities and the wider community. You will gain insights into the challenges and opportunities of urban digital twins, and learn how these tools can enhance evidence‑based policymaking and support innovation at city level. A Q&A session will close the webinar, offering you the chance to engage directly with the speakers.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with a calendar invite and the webinar link. This session is part of the “Open data best practices and monitoring use cases” course offered by the data.europa academy and will be recorded for future access.
