    Abstract

The European AI Factories initiative represents a strategic investment in Europe’s digital sovereignty, combining high-performance computing, trusted data infrastructures, and sectoral data spaces to accelerate the development of trustworthy and competitive AI. Today’s discussion will explore both the policy foundations shaping this initiative and the practical realities of deploying AI Factories at national level.
We will hear first from EuroHPC and DG CNECT on the strategic and governance framework, followed by operational insights from the AI Factory of Luxembourg (Luxembourg National Data Service, LNDS) and the AI Factory of Greece (Pharos). The session will conclude with a perspective from the Publications Office on AI-ready data and its role within this emerging ecosystem.
Our objective is to foster alignment between strategy, infrastructure, and data — ensuring that Europe’s AI ambition translates into concrete, interoperable and sustainable practice.

    Agenda

    • Policy and strategic framing (EuroHPC & DG CNECT): A high-level introduction to the European AI Factories initiative, its objectives and governance, and their role in the European AI and Data ecosystem.
    • Operational and practical perspective (AI Factories): How AI Factories are implemented in practice, including expected types of datasets, links with sectoral data spaces, and collaboration models.
      • AI Factory of Luxembourg (LNDS)
      • AI Factory of Greece (Pharos)
    • AI-ready data in the Publications Office
